All you have to do is look at "About this Mac" to find out whether it's ddr2 or 3...

So when you turn the machine upside down (with it facing you as normal) and take the battery our there is not a little door exposed facing you? Are there instructions printed under where the battery is?
It should look like this with the door open (sorry about the quality, camera phone and max file size here)Absolutely no door. I was like WTF? when I opened it up and saw nothing.

They are showing up on their website, and they are on sale with their current iMac sale.
Shipping time shows 2-5 days, and as of right now (Thursday), in the Austin, TX area they don't seem to have them in stores, or know when they will.

I read something a few weeks ago about this announcement. It said it was going to be about the RED camera.

Thank you for your advice and help. However, because this particular iMac G4 didn't look so good, I am no longer interested in it. I did, though, buy an iMac G5 17" (1.8 GHz with Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse) for $328.95. Earlier today, I tried to bid on a iMac G5 with an Intel processor that was running Snow Leopard. I lost by $5.01! :( I wanted that one so badly!
Out of all the iMac G5's I looked at on eBay, this one seemed to be the best of the bunch for a reasonable price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=300545329931&si=BD2wv5BIwqV4v6oXYLbzvgBPDXY%253D&viewitem=
Though I did buy an iMac G5, I did find these REALLY, REALLY nice iMac G4's running Leopard. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190526970385&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Wow, it looks great! Just a quick note, the 17" PB should be 100 GB, not 10 GB.

This is awesome! Thank you Macsavvytech! Do you want to attach a photo of your rig as well?
Ok, my rig is pretty basic at the moment (waiting on my new kit!), but of course it is only a review for the Macbook Pro so that is all good. Taking picture ;)

Now this is looking different. I'm not sure why this would have changed. The finder windows are clear.

Also, the CPU keeps running between 30-90% even though there are no applications running (other than activity monitor). Related or no?

That's definitely a snail. It's hitched on that bug for a ride. It'll do that with any bug that is big enough to compensate for the the snails weight.

Oh, above, when I said, "Play fast," I meant in relation to the normal game on Dragon Go Server. Since the games are correspondence games, anything faster than one move a day can probably be considered "fast". Sorry if there was any confusion. I didn't want you to mistakenly think I meant, "Don't think about your moves and just go fast."

Why annoying, because PowerPoint is so lame? You can export Keynote to PowerPoint, or to Flash, or QuickTime, or PDF.
What we really need is a Windows Keynote player downloadable for free off of Apple's website. ...Apple could probably throw one together in a day and iWork sales would skyrocket (not to mention the switching potential of the Windows users watching such a beautiful presentation on their piece of crap :D).

I'll be at the ardmore store with my girlfriend! I'll be the long haired hippy looking teenager. I should get a paper with my macrumors user name on it and take it to my shirt!
Or maybe just a sign that says macrumors on it so we can meet up with each other.
What time would be a good time to start waiting outside, I want to make sure I get a shirt.

May I ask why you are getting rid of them? And does the dented one work (I see the other one on in the pics, but the dented one is off?)

The solar fireworks at the weekend were recorded by several satellites, including Nasa’s new Solar Dynamics Observatory which watched its shock wave rippling outwards.
Astronomers from all over the world witnessed the huge flare above a giant sunspot the size of the Earth, which they linked to an even larger eruption across the surface of Sun.
The explosion, called a coronal mass ejection, was aimed directly towards Earth, which then sent a “solar tsunami” racing 93 million miles across space.
Images from the SDO hint at a shock wave travelling from the flare into space, the New Scientist reported.
Experts said the wave of supercharged gas will likely reach the Earth on Tuesday, when it will buffet the natural magnetic shield protecting Earth.
It is likely to spark spectacular displays of the aurora or northern and southern lights.
"This eruption is directed right at us," said Leon Golub, of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA).
"It's the first major Earth-directed eruption in quite some time."
Scientists have warned that a really big solar eruption could destroy satellites and wreck power and communications grids around the globe if it happened today.
Nasa recently warned that Britain could face widespread power blackouts and be left without critical communication signals for long periods of time, after the earth is hit by a once-in-a-generation “space storm”.
The Daily Telegraph disclosed in June that senior space agency scientists believed the Earth will be hit with unprecedented levels of magnetic energy from solar flares after the Sun wakes “from a deep slumber” sometime around 2013.
It remains unclear, however, how much damage this latest eruption will cause the world’s communication tools.
Dr Lucie Green, of the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, Surrey, followed the flare-ups using Japan's orbiting Hinode telescope.
"What wonderful fireworks the Sun has been producing,” the UK solar expert said.
“This was a very rare event – not one, but two almost simultaneous eruptions from different locations on the sun were launched toward the Earth.
"These eruptions occur when immense magnetic structures in the solar atmosphere lose their stability and can no longer be held down by the Sun's huge gravitational pull. Just like a coiled spring suddenly being released, they erupt into space.”
She added: "It looks like the first eruption was so large that it changed the magnetic fields throughout half the Sun's visible atmosphere and provided the right conditions for the second eruption.
"Both eruptions could be Earth-directed but may be travelling at different speeds.
“This means we have a very good chance of seeing major and prolonged effects, such as the northern lights at low latitudes."link (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/space/7923069/Nasa-scientists-braced-for-solar-tsunami-to-hit-earth.html)

I bought one of these for my G5, love it. Looks cool and has very nice action, I seem to fly on this board! 2 USB ports (one at each end). Pretty cheap too.... $39 at Newegg I think. It gets my vote. :D
Sounds too good to be true ;)
How does it compare to an alubook keyboard? Does it have the same feel to it? I'm a bit worried that the keys will not feel as 'soft' as the alubook's.
I tried this one, and it really feels horrible (like a VAIO.. *shudders*) : http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Logitech%20UltraX%20Keyboard%20Keyboard:1991330435
Thanks for the link, I'll try to find a shop carrying it in Europe!

Well, I only have like $40 in my bank account right now, which isn't too good, ESPECIALLY with christmas. So what does one do when one runs low on cash? Why sells his earthly posessions of course! I have a couple macs I MIGHT be willing to part with. I'm not sure on either of them yet but they are both possibilities.
First up is my PowerMac G4 Sawtooth:
400mhz G4 Processor
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB AGP GFX Card
80GB HDD
DVD-ROM and ZIP drives
This is a frickin great machine. It's currently sitting at home in my desk waiting to be used and I can hear it crying because I'm thinking of selling it.
http://img345.imageshack.us/img345/834/setup61hi.th.jpg (http://img345.imageshack.us/my.php?image=setup61hi.jpg)
Second up, my dearly loved Powerbook G3 Wallstreet.
266mhz G3 Processor
128MB RAM
10GB HDD
4MB Shared Video RAM
2 PC Card slots
14" TFT Screen
CD-ROM Drive
This also, an EXCELLENT backup laptop. It's currently loaded with OS 9.2. I was originally planning to upgrade this puppy BIG TIME but I've run into cash problems. Only problem with this laptop is that the battery is dead.
http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/8726/wallstreet10yi.th.jpg (http://img319.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wallstreet10yi.jpg)
Let me know if you're interested at all and maybe make me an offer? I'm not sure if I want to sell these but all signs are pointing to yes.

The code to change videos to links in quote posts seems to affect still images also. Quotes in the DP forum swap the image with an link reading "image". Is this intended or not?
Dale
It's intended.
Auto-linking quoted images is another change we've wanted to make, and the time was right. The purpose is the same in both cases: to have a link instead of a video or image in a quote.
If you think a video or image needs to be displayed in a quoted post you can edit it back to the non-link syntax. In other words, you can have it either way, but the default behavior has changed. Images embedded with TIMG aren't affected, at least for now, since small quoted images are less of an issue than large videos or potentially large images.
