not really true. it depends on what kind of storage options they are currently running, there are many devices and programs out there that eliminate this kind of redundancy and odds are amazon is using them right now.
The fact that they offer free space for MP3 files purchased from Amazon clearly indicates that those files be stored in a single copy.

I dont think so, Amazon cannot get the app needed for the streaming/storing of content on your phone or tablet approved in the appstore since. It violates apples terms, if you or anyone else has an issue with it, contact apple.
Amazon Cloud storage app on android scans you sd/local storage for music then allows you to upload it into the cloud. Apple for one wont let another mp3 store on its phones and for 2, apple wont let that service scan for music.
So why is the website blocking access?
That being said, I hope Apple's preview of the future of iOS gets done with all the restrictions after all. Fighting with companies who want to build on your platform is not gonna lead them anywhere.

Just thinking about "compelling applications", and pulling a couple of rumors together...
What happened to the rumour that Apple was making a groupware application? What would happen if you implemented a group scheduling and interaction application on a iPad /phone device. Something that allows for shared calendaring & room bookings, as well as a light development environment for a customised family and/or business mobile-intranet?

another point (more for future considerations), the way a fight is set up now, if 7 people stumble on 1 monster of the lowest possible level (1/1), then even if the battle is easily won by the group (7 AP vs 1 AP), the end result is substantially a tie (monster dead and one hero dead). this doesn't seem right. you should have a situation of "overwhelming strength", where if there is a great disparity in Ap (2-fold, 3-fold?) than the losing party just dies, without inflicting any damage. or something similar

Well Apple doesn't sell its software for use on any other phones (or computers), so how is it competing with software-installed numbers on all hardware types? If people were shifting from Samsung or Motorola phones with Apple iOS to Samsung or Motorola phones with Android, than Apple would be losing in the software market.
This has always be a case of apples to broccoli (yeah, it's not even a fruit versus fruit comparison).

Wow, I can't see this happening. There is too much momentum for them to wait 2 years in between phones. They will release a 4GS!
I think Apple will be fine no matter what, and if they feel it's better to make sure that new iterations of the phone are SIGNIFICANT improvements (after all, the iPhone has become Apple's signature device, even more than the Mac or the iPad) then perhaps they won't release a 4GS with just speed improvements.
It will be hard to top significant upgrade from 3GS to the 4G, especially when you consider build quality and the Retina Display, which is still the sharpest screen on the market.

You (and others) are aware that "Developer Previews", when available, have always predated the Beta releases? It's not even a beta.
Apple says they will release Lion in summer, only Dev Previews have appeared so far, and suddenly people think it plausible for Apple to release a GM build in March?

This is obvious because iOS is from one company...selling iOS devices. Android is o. Every other device that really isn't any competition if u ask me...every HTC, motorola , are now stocking android that they just got lazy. "oh we just made a quad core with 7 cameras...let's add android...perfect..exactly like an evo"....boring...some say "oh iOS isn't exciting" in earlier posts are wrong...not that I'm a fanboy to iOS..I'm a fanboy to the best I see..and android for a fact isn't...every damn android device has nothing different then just cameras...evo..shift..thunderbolt...droid...it's just stupid...what happened to when cell phones competed for hardware and software?

doubtful, this is a key switcher market... it would be crazy to axe the very thing that will continue to switch the PC builders/gamers over the next 5 years... this is a key ingredient to apple taking the industry over with time.
Apple will not take the desktop industry over, at least not whilst it's using intel processors and chipsets and charging far more for them than other vendors.
You are essentially now using a PC with EFI firmware and OSX operating system. The only advantage over a hackintosh is that it's all fine tuned, modified and tested under one roof together with Apples software and of course styled with a modern, warm, minimalist form using quality materials but which does not leave any room for custom modding, water cooling, tri-quad SLI\X-Fire etc that PC modders crave.
In my opinion with virtualization age starting and conventions/standards now being more robust we are coming to a time where it's going to be all "same ****, different logo and GUI" and the cheaper, more feature rich option will win out.
The desktop market has been exhausted and its time passed anywhere, so now it's all about mobile and portable computing.
Nokia is partnering with Ms, those are two big, strong boys right there and will give everyone a run for their money. Add to that Microsofts kinect technology and you have new ways of controlling PC's, HTPC's and even mobiles. I have a feeling we're in for a surprise. I've been reading internet articles all day. Yesterday I ordered a MacBook which is set for delivery in Oct. I read an article that said Intel shipped the processors early to the manufacturers to first upgrade their entry level laptops and, as we have seen, that is the case with Dell and HP. According to the article, there was no supply issue with the new Core 2 CPU's. The MacBook though now supposedly is in short supply right now inventory-wise - Could be back to school or possibly a "refit" !! Well, who knows what they will do but I would hope they would just start shipping them with the new Core 2 CPU's soldered in place of the Core Duo - both laptops.I Doubt Merom Supplies Are Off Allocation Yet � It's Unlikely Apple Can Get All They Need yet. Therefore MacBook will get Merom later and mini last.

Am I the only one who sees the threat of moving to Android as a petty attempt to get Steve to reply? The writer of this email obviously didn't do any research, and he obviously doesn't understand that Steve would see right through a threat like that. This whole thing is a non-issue. I don't care if someone knows where my iPhone has been. I'm worried about far more important things such as protecting my financial information, which I keep in an encrypted disk image in case my laptop gets stolen.
