Uhm... "Dock, The" just looks weird (and meaningless) to me. Better to just drop the "The" completely then.
I'm on board with that. Looks better.

As I posted in a more obscure thread,
Never forget that the zune brought us this:

I still find it a little disturbing but I think it's also possibly the single funniest thing I've ever seen involving Microsoft.
Every time I see this picture, I think of one of two things:

Save those SHSH Blobs fast. I saw that 4.3.2 came out and right when I got back from lunch, fired up my laptop and saved them for my iPad 2. Also saved again for my iPhone just for good measure.
Hello there, do these shsh need to saved to the PC?? Or the ipad itself?? But if the ipad jailbreak is not out yet how can it be saved using tinyumbrella which is availabe thru cydia

Thanks. Probabbly gonna upgrade the RAM at some point. It's not bad for the apps installed but I would imagine it's quite slow on the web.

This is interesting - can anyone confirm that the website didn't do this before?
You really think that they would use a .org domain for a phone? If Apple follows through with a phone, I would be extremely surprised to see any domains used besides Apple.com or iTunes.com

Nice work!
One suggestion: is it possible to move the banner ad at the top of the page to between the MR-logo and the search box (and yes, I know it is possible =)
Maybe it is aesthetically worse, but now it takes too much space all the upper stuff before you are able too see the actual content. And yes, Im speaking of 900 and wider windows. But it wouldnt make a big difference to 800*600 site because it is on two rows however.

it's probably more for the person who hasn't logged on for like a month so they dont have to scroll through all the news articles for the most important ones

It seems that iPhone users have higher standards.
You don't see national outrage for recent Verizon nation-wide outage. Where's the outrage that Verizon do not support concurrent voice and data on its "3G" network?
As to iPhone, in the suburbs it's great. In city hotspots, the network gets slower from lots of iPhone users and not-in-my-backyard attitude when it comes to network extension. Verizon won't be immune from it.

Hello everyone! I purchased a Razer Megalodon Headset and for some reason iTunes wont let me select Surround Sound. It's a 7.1 headset. Is there anyway to make iTunes see the headset or force it to do surround? Thanks!

Paul, I completely agree with you.
Multi disk RAID has valid uses, but its place is best left in the enterprise - where it can help to provide better uptime in an environment where replacement drives, controllers and copious backups are always on hand.
The worst thing about this sort of box in a domestic situation is the temptation for people to treat it as 'a backup'... they assume they don't need any other backup as the unit itself is more resilient (dead wrong!).

Hi guys... :)
I got my new eMac in the mail today and love everything... except one thing. ;)
When I am listening to my mp3s, or doing anything to play sound, I am experiencing something that seems odd...
And that is, I have to have the volume on my eMac turned up to about the 6th or 7th level to hear any sound at a good volume. Weird???
I just upgraded from a Graphite iMac G3/600, and I could play music fine, with great sound volume, on the first sound level. The 8th sound level on my iMac would be very LOUD, but this new eMac has to be on the 8th level to get just normal good sound out. Is this NORMAL??
Has anyone else experienced this or heard of it happening? Do you have any idea how to change it so I can get some sound coming out on the 1st or 2nd level? Shouldn't it make SOME sound on level 1 and 2? Please help :) Thanks!

At a minimum you'd want a Gigabit Ethernet Switch, and some CAT-5e cables. Over the 30-foot run, CAT-5 cables may work just as well.
If you haven't changed the Network settings on the Mac Pros, they should each pick up a self-assigned IP address as soon as you plug them into the switch, and they'll be able to talk to each other over the wired network.
The problem is that these machines presumably are all on the same wireless network. You want to ensure that the big files travel over the wired network and not the wireless. The default network service order for OS X puts the Ethernet network first, but some folks have observed that this doesn't always work as expected.
Using the self-assigned IP addresses when you open up folders on the remote machines will force the use of the wired network, but it's not as simple as just picking them off the Finder list. It may be worth manually configuring the IP addresses on the wired network if it turns out you have to type them into the Finder's Connect to Server dialog box often.

Many people opt to use a standard account for their normal day to day stuff and an admin account for updates and system maintenance type tasks
It's primary benefit is protecting the system from intended or intended actions. While many people use a single admin account there are benefits from restricting access.
With a new computer or a reinstall you are present with a series of screens to create a new account and that new account is an admin account. You have to have at least one admin account.
After which you can create multiple accounts (both standard and/or admin). To create the accounts go into the system preferences and select Accounts. Click on the plus sign on the lower left (of the padlock icon is unlocked if locked unlock it and enter your password) select the account type and details. You now have a new account :)

Yes I would upgrade. I had the 13 inch for a week...brought it back for the 15 only because I needed a better graphics card. It is a fast little computer and I much prefered it over the 15 I have now, because of how lightweight it was. Buy somewhere with a good return policy if you aren't sure. Best Buy or some place like that. They gave me two weeks to return it for a refund. Good luck, whatever you decide. Keep us posted. :)

Hello -
I am using iMovie 11 and have searched for an answer with no luck.
I have a scene where 2 people are talking and one talks over the other. I'd like the ability to remove one of the voice at a point in time.
Appreciate the help in advance.

If you have an unformated hard drive in there then the Mini should automatically boot from the DVD, no key press required. The Mini should look for any available bootable OS's on startup and lacking it's default, choose one.
Are you getting a Kernel Panic screen on boot? A gray screen telling you to restart your computer by pressing the power button in multiple languages? If so then something is amiss, because unless something has changed in the last few years, without a bootable OS the mini should just flash a circle with a line through it (no idea what the symbol is called, but like a No Smoking sign without a cigarette in it).
Are you trying to start up from the Restore DVD that came with the Mini or a retail Snow Leopard DVD?
Thank you, Norouzi - your description fits what I see on my screen, ie. it must be the Kernel Panic screen, meaning that my new Mini didn't like the unformatted bigger and speedier HD that I put in there.
I was trying to start by installing the Snow Leopard with an authentic installation DVD.
I just borrowed an Apple USB keyboard from my banker over the week end :) - so I'll just give it try, hopefully at least I can eject the DVD with it.

I bought the origianal Bose SoundDock when it was first released and have Been in love with it ever since. I also bought the Bose Companions and love them just as much. If I were you I would try and eventually purchase both, you won't regret it. But buy the companion speakers first. That way you have the Bose quality for you music plus films and gaming. Then when the funds are available treat yourself to the SoundDock!
thanks man, appreciate you helping out, your the only reply, jeez what is this forum coming too,
regards,
Caoln.

Yea, I suspect the power supply also. It disappears when I unplug it totally (no Gremlins ;-)). It strangely also disappears when I turn it on. I was just wondering if anyone else had this noise? If I am the only one, then I will call Apple abut it.

It does make me laugh how people went on and on about how the 12" powerbook was the ultimate laptop and coupling it with a 20" display or larger was the ideal way to work... and then the 11MBA comes along and blows the 12" PB away in the specs and portability department, yet people still aren't happy.
I loved my 12" PB and I really feel that this 11MBA is the true replacement. It's much lighter, much thinner and is so much more powerful (plays youtube perfectly compared to the G4). There's also the much better battery, newer software and much longer sleep. It's win-win.
