Nebraska Service Center mailed I-131 approval notices for me and my wife on 28th Oct. But we never received them. Its been a month now. So, I called USCIS today morning and they say I need to reapply for I-131 for my whole family because some one else might have picked it up.
I called up post office. They say they have no mails on hold.
Is reapplying the only way out?

The H-1B quota is slowing reaching its limit. The so-called advanced degree cap is now full and approximately 53,800 cases have been counted against the 65,000 allocated to the regular cap. I just received EADs for me and my spouse and the validity is only 1 year! Aren't we (people whose PDs are retrogressed) supposed to receive EADs with 2 years validity?
Did you filed 140 & 485 concurrently?? this is also one of the uscis check that you shouldn't filed be concurrently...

I'm a July 2007 filer going to file for my EAD for the first time. Since I'm currently on H1B, how should I answer this question
I'm applying for:
a) Permission to accept employment
b) Replacement
c) Renewal of my permission to accept employment
I think I need to go with option "c" since moving from H1B to EAD would qualify for a "c" response
Please advise.....

"You can actually get things expunged but I've been pretty busy. So I was detained, I was interrogated. It was a blast.

While I certainly feel somewhat bad for Mr. Downey, this short exchange gave the impression that nothing similar would ever happen in America! Hah!
U.S. Immigration Law contains restrictions that bar entry to people forever, for virtually any youthful indiscretion they have ever had, e.g. simple possession of a marijuana 20 years ago, without regard to whether or not you were actually convicted of the crime! You do not even need to have been convicted; the fact that you admit you did it will also get you barred from entry. Heck you will even be bounced (http://www.markshuttleworth.com/archives/43) from the United States after overstaying your visa for one day, leaving one day late, and then trying to come back in on that visa. Or, you will be detained and returned because the officer thinks you MIGHT be working (http://addxorrol.blogspot.com/2007/07/ive-been-denied-entry-to-us-essentially.html).
So, if you were watching David Letterman and thanking your lucky stars that America is far nicer to arriving tourists than Japan--think again!

I thought this will be a useful information to everyone.
My Case,
04/18/2008 -Applied EAD online
06/19/2008 -Status changes to "Approved" but no Notice sent.
07/20/2008 -Waited for 30 Days and called USCIS to open a Service Request.
07/24/2008 - Received EAD at home.
08/26/2008 - Received the letter from USCIS saying we have sent you the card but never received back or delivered to you hence concluding it is considered lost and if you need it, Please file for EAD again.
I called USCIS, Customer server rep said take an Infopass appointment to make sure it is valid.
Took the appointment, went USCIS on 09/10/2008.
Officer takes a look and tells me "Obviuosly you have EAD in your possession and unless you made it up on a color Laser printer, It is my fault that I have provided wrong information to USCIS and not waited for 30 days as I should have and I am there to pick up a fight with USCIS,bla bla bbla"
I remained very calm knowing he does not like his job but have to do it.
He is rude and clueless at the most why I am there. My first experience with USCIS, I dont think I want to go to their office again.
Finally conclusion he tell me "Once EAD is issued it remains VALID until you notify USCIS that it is lost or stolen or tempered with, USCIS DOES NOT take any proactive actions on EADs that are issued. Hence NO action is neccessary at this time"
Moral of Story is DO NOT go to USCIS if you receive such type of letter from USCIS after opening a service request for EAD.
I wasted a good amount of time and money just to take this BS.

I am a labour substitution case pd feb 2002 filed 140 in June at NSC. My 140 has been pending for more than a year. Now recently I received 2 year ead.
Does this imply my 140 is approved too???
Is it safe to work on ead of one gets 2 year ead with pending 140.??

I do not understand why they grant EADs when your I-140 is not approved. The reason I bring this up is if a person loses his/her job and your I-140 is revoked, the EAD is useless. You cannot use AC21 for that because your I-140 is not approved.

Moreover, the latest "as of" i.e. "report" date that you see on Nebraska is July 31st 2008. It is not current (Sept 2008) as many of you may think.

I too had the paralegal filled out wrong information in regard to my employment history. My lawyer said the same thing; once it is on ETA 9089, you could not really change anything.
In fact, you could not change it when you file I-140. The only thing you could do is to discuss with your lawyer about possible RFEs.
Last but not least, don't sweat it. Worrying won't change anything.
And as for my case, it was approved without any RFE request.

Better wait for your receipt numbers from I-797. I think this case is for somebody else and it is about appeal from decision of previously adjudicated case.

I actually went for stamping in my 4th year, that's after extending my H1 after the first 3 years. They didn't ask any questions. I'm not from India though so I don't know whether its different.
